Wood Flooring Underlays With a Built in Moisture Barrier
All these underlays have a built in vapour barrier to act as a damp proof membrane (DPM), and help prevent moisture or dampness coming from the sub-floor and penetrating your wood floor. Some products have an overlap allowing easy sealing of joins. Where an overlap is not present you will also need to buy the appropriate jointing tape Please note that a moisture blocking underlay will not always be enough to protect your floor from dampness or moisture. If you are unsure you should always consult a professional and have a moisture reading taken before installation is considered. Primary areas where problems may arise are freshly poured concrete in new buildings, or older buildings where moisture ingress is present.
